Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire...

It used to be a very serious matter to accuse someone of lying. Not so long ago, when honor had more currency than it does at present, specific examples of deliberate falsehoods were required to validate such charges. This is no longer the case.

The charge that 'Bush Lied' has been echoed so often that it is taken as truth by millions of Americans. Not one of whom can cite a specific Bush lie. On my radio show, I had a standing offer of $100.00 for anyone who could give me an example of when Bush lied. I've never had to pay out. Despite this lack of evidence, a good man's name and honor have been tarnished. Ditto with John McCain.

In a heated discussion with an elderly gent named Holly who works for Helping Hand in Surfside Beach, SC., this morning, I ran into this same cavalier treatment of deliberate falsehoods. (Lies, if you're a conservative, 'misstatements' if you're a liberal) "McCain is a liar." Holly stated.

When asked for specifics, he replied as most do, "Everyone knows he lies. I'll make you a list." I declined a list, asking for just one specific lie. Holly is going to look into it. Despite the fact that he couldn't recall any specific lie, Holly will continue to believe both Bush and McCain have lied. As will millions of Americans.

Engaging in semantics is the default setting when one has no facts to back up their statements. "Well, how do you define a lie?" they say. A lie is a deliberate misstatement of fact, made knowing that it is false. Like Barack Obama's statement that he didn't ..

Top Idiots Of The Week Awards

We have a clear winner in this week's awards. By far, the biggest idiot of the week has to be:

1.  Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, who was caught on video  accusing the U.S. Department of Defense of executing 5,000 prisoners Chinese-style and dumping their bodies in a Louisiana swamp. Maybe she's just off her meds.

2. Second place has to go to ..

Barney Frank Gets A Spanking

Say what you will about Bill O'Reilly, but he's the only person who finally did what millions of conservatives have yearned to do. On the O'Reilly Factor last night, host Bill O'Reilly gave Rep. Barney Frank a very public spanking for "presiding over the largest financial failure of our time."

With his characteristic bulldog style, times ten, O'Reilly quoted Frank's July, 2008 statement that, despite a few problems, Fannie-Mae had a 'solid' future.' O'Reilly got increasingly agitated as he outlined how thousands of Americans took Frank at his word, only to lose big as Fannie Mae tanked shortly thereafter.

Barney Frank, consummate politician that he is, handled himself quite well, casting himself as having fought for greater regulation and reform of Fannie Mae. Rep. Frank was genuinely perplexed that Americans weren't judging him on his good intentions instead of the disastrous results of his actions, or lack of actions.

Frank held his own, using the proven tactic of attacking the messenger instead of responding to the actual issue. With a straight face, he accused Bill O'Reilly of not listening. "I didn't say Fannie Mae was a good investment," Frank stated. With that, O'Reilly went nuclear.

"Oh, stop the BS. Stop the crap," O'Reilly yelled, emphasizing his irritation with huge finger jabs. 'You're a coward." Living up to the moniker 'No Spin Zone,' O'Reilly went further, stating, "At least Christopher Cox was man enough....

Dangerous Videos

A picture is worth a thousand words. Perhaps that is why Warner Music Group yanked this video from You Tube. Its a very dangerous video because it explains in simple and understandable terms, the cause of today's current financial crisis. Warner's reason for yanking the video? Something to do with the music. Riiight...

We've reposted the video here, with the offending music removed and the underlying facts intact. You'll quickly understand the reason some might not want you to see it. Surprising in its simplicity, it connects the dots, backed with supporting documents and actual video, and provides a timeline of the events that led to the financial chaos of this past week.

Its no wonder the powers that be don't want this video viewed by your average American. Its damning in its simplicity and shocking in its conclusion. Once armed with the facts, the American people are adamant in rejecting the proposed financial bailout now under consideration by the Senate.

After watching this video, it is unsettling to watch Rep. Barney Frank, or Sen. Chris Dodd on the news, lecturing the American public on how to solve the current financial meltdown. Its like watching the captain of the Titanic teaching a course on maritime navigation.

The Democrats still believe they can rewrite facts to their own specifications. They've done so for decades, with the help of a complaisant media. They have yet to figure out how to deal with You Tube. Except to ban videos that come too close to the actual facts.

The culprits in this financial mess are relying on the ignorance of the American people to get away with creating the very crisis for which they now offer solutions. Its quite clear that instead of being in charge of resolving this mess, these Democrats should instead be languishing in jail.

Another dangerous video is the latest McCain ad. Called Alaska's Political Circus, it outlines the facts behind the 'troopergate' investigation into Sarah Palin. Clearly and with supporting facts. In essence, it provides the details needed necessary for the American people to conclude the supposed investigation into Palin is an unsubstanciated smear campaign motivated by partisan politics.

Yet another dangerous video making the rounds on the web and talk radio, is a very professional video of young children singing the praises of Obama. The video purports to have been produced in the living room of a home in Venice. A spontaneous burst of creativity, supposedly reflective of the overwhelming appeal of Obama. You decide.

What makes this video noteworthy, is the eerie resemblance to the propaganda films of the Hitler era. Beautiful young people, in lockstep, seemingly overwhelmed with admiration for the person who turned out to be one of the worst mass murderers in history. Or picture North Korea - young, gullible schoolchildren, again, singing the praises of Dear Leader. Can you spell brainwashed?

This carefully scripted and choreographed 'home video' is also worth one thousand words. The 'words' indeed evoke emotion, but not the kind the producers envisioned. This video leaves me scared. The shoddy tactic of linking beautiful innocent children with Obama, the deceptive tone of mass adoration and the patently professional production values scream 'mass manipulation.' Again, you decide.

The good news is, it appears that the left has lost its stranglehold on deciding what information reaches the average Joe. Sites like You Tube make it extremely difficult to get away with airbrushing facts. The truth of these videos could very well be just the solution the American people need. Which is why they're dangerous. Supply the American people with the facts and they could decide to ignore the politicians and come up with their own solutions.

Caution: Government At Work

September 17 was Constitution Day. The federal government celebrated by staging the largest intervention into the private sector in history. With an injection of $85 billion of our tax dollars, our federal government now owns a majority stake in insurance giant, American International Group.

AIG should fit nicely with the two mortgage giants, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that our government seized last week. Of course, Fannie and Freddie also came with liabilities of more than $5 trillion worth of mortgages, which are now liabilities of the U.S. taxpayers. Not to worry, the government doesn't intend to incorporate the assets or liabilities of Fannie and Freddie onto the federal books, for now.

The outgoing CEO's of the failed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be leaving with a $24 million severance package, also paid for with our tax dollars. Ditto with failed giant AIG. Even though AIG shares have dropped 94 percent since  Robert Willumstad, was named chief executive officer on June 15, this soon to be ex-CEO may get a $7 million exit package after a Federal Reserve take-over forces him out. Had enough yet? Hold on, there's more.

The Big Three’s chief executive officers are now in Washington, tin cups in hand.  They were granted a rare Capitol Hill meeting Wednesday with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders to ask for $25 billion in government loans for the auto industry.

Meanwhile, Congress has just approved and sent to President Bush an $8 billion rescue package for the federal highway trust fund. Apparently its going broke, which threatens road and bridge projects in every state.

Government bailouts, in effect, use our tax dollars to reward bad behaviour, while at the same time, putting more and more private business under government control. While America's eyes are eagerly following the presidential election, our government is turning the US into a corporate welfare state. Its called socialism, and it has failed everywhere its been tried.

No doubt, these business failures will be used as a further indictment of capitalism. But, as Burton Fulson points out in his book, 'The Myth of the Robber Baron,' there are two very different types of capitalists operating in America.

The true capitalists, the market entrepreneurs, are subject to the vagaries and risks of the market and fail or succeed based strictly the age old rule of supply and demand. The political capitalists are entrepreneurs whose fortunes are not determined by market forces as much as they are by political forces.

Political capitalists, instead of relying on market forces, rely instead on politicians and the political process to further their own interests and undermine their competitors'. This appears to be the case with both AIG and mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

As Jennifer Rubin points out in Commentary, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac "survived by manipulating, cajoling and lobbying politicians and hiring board members who were politicos (e.g. Jamie Gorelick) rather than mortgage gurus. They hired lobbyists, gave massive donations, obtained nice tax breaks and sailed below the regulatory radar screen."

Ditto for investment bank Lehman Brothers, which also failed this week. The government chose not to bail Lehman out, despite the $395,574 in campaign donations to Obama and the $145,100 to McCain. Go figure.

The financial markets remain in a turmoil, with banks and investment groups struggling to consolidate, sell themselves or find a favorable political solution for their failed businesses. The one thing that remains clear, is that all the failed businesses have one thing in common. They were all political capitalists.

Amazon
Political fingerprints are found all over every single failed business, from the 'favorable' mortgages to politicians, to the campaign contributions, to the lack of regulatory oversight by key members of banking and regulatory committees.

As the blame game starts, as politicos start to distance themselves from the very policies that contributed to the failures, expect more of our tax dollars to be spent on CYA activities. That's liberal speak for 'plausible deniability.' House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was first out of the gate, announcing the launch of an investigation of Wall Street. This should make for good theater, if you're into sound and fury that signifies nothing.

When the dust finally settles, the federal government will have ever more power over the housing industry, the mortgage industry and the banking industry. Next up will most likely be the airline industry. All justified under the rubric of protecting the American people. The question never asked is: What government program, other than the military, works?

Most American's don't have to spend millions of dollars, summon legions of experts, and study the vast intricacies of the latest politically correct theory on how the market works in order to see the obvious. Most of us know we just need to get politics, politicians and our tax dollars out of the private market, and allow it to work. Its called capitalism.

Obama Has Lost His Mojo

A new ad from the Obama campaign ridicules John McCain for not using the Internet, perhaps not realizing that McCain's war injuries leave him unable to use a keyboard. This ad comes on the heels of Obama's 'lipstick on a pig' controversy, which is still fueling late night talk shows. The lipstick controversy came on the heels of another Obama gaffe, when he artlessly referred to "my Muslim faith."

The Obama gaffes are piling up, and we're not even counting his VP pick, Biden, who himself is racking up an impressive number of 'oops' moments. Poor Obama is definitely having a bad week.

The media anointed Messiah, the man the world would like to elect president, has gone from playing offense to playing defense. And he's not playing well.

Obama is a charismatic, compelling figure. His appeal is undeniable, as long as he is presented in a multi-million dollar staged setting with teleprompters and a prepared speech. Take him out of this element however, and the contrast is as shocking as seeing Ms. America sans make-up on a bad hair day. Complete with morning breath.

No where is the contrast greater than this video clip of Obama in a townhall meeting. His words are confusing, his body language defensive. His coat is off and his sleeves are rolled up, in what appears to be an attempt to...

Liberal Meltdown

In a delicious stroke of cosmic justice, it seems that the left, not the earth, is in meltdown stage. The sacred pillars of liberal orthodoxy are in the process of losing their underpinnings and it is not a pretty sight.

With the nomination of Barack and Sarah, three major industries and shibboleths of the left, feminism, racism and the media are losing their clout, big time.

The feminists who have preached against the 'social construct' of male patriarchy and female victimhood have achieved their stated goal, and they're furious. After 40 years, the feminist mantra that a woman can and should have it all, has come to fruition in Sarah Palin.

There's only one small problem. Palin doesn't buy into the feminist line. As Peggy Noonan so aptly put it, "she is a feminist not in the Yale Gender Studies sense but the How Do I Reload This Thang way." When feminists see Sarah Palin, they see a woman. When conservatives see Palin, they see a conservative. Who'se sexist?

Feminists are furiously backtracking on one of their core tenets, questioning whether Sarah Palin has the ability to juggle home and job. Instead of applauding a woman who has it all, they instead question whether she will have time to be VP, what with her family and all. Liberal feminist Whoppi Goldberg got it right when she described Sarah Palin as "a dangerous woman."

The Jacksons and Sharptons of the world who have spent their lives preaching racism are also  in melt down stage. With the nomination of Obama, racism is in the process of becoming a hard sell, even the silent 'institutional racism' that has been in vogue these last few years. How will the race hustlers raise funds without genuine victims? How will blacks retain their hard won political power, which is based largely on white guilt? Who will pay for black oppression if there isn't any?

The presidential race of 2008 will go down in history as a turning point - as the pivotal event that exposed the shallowness of liberal policies, institutions and people. A mere 5 months ago, the liberals were on the brink of victory. And now...
Amazon

Now, it appears that not only are the masses not buying what the left is selling, but have instead shown their stubborn allegiance to traditional values and God, as embodied so well by Gov. Palin. This, despite the herculean efforts by another liberal institution, the media.

The same media, which a study showed to have been the decisive factor in Obama's nomination, is now having to report that Palin is more popular than both McCain and Obama.

Unable to believe they've been on the wrong side of history, the media is lashing out in ever more frivolous and blatant attempts to smear Gov. Palin and prop up Obama. Only this time, they're encountering a backlash.

US Weekly Magazine is losing subscribers due to the vicious smear piece recently published about Palin. A  new website has even been launched to organize a boycott of US Weekly and their advertisers. Adding insult to injury, Rasmussen reported a whopping 51% of American women believe the media is trying to hurt Sarah Palin and 24% say those stories make them more likely to vote for McCain.

More surprisingly, hundreds of small town residents in a small town outside Milwaukee "taunted reporters and TV crews travelling with Sen. John McCain on Friday, chanting "Be fair!" and pointing fingers at a pack of journalists as they booed loudly." Even Oprah is experiencing a backlash for refusing to have Palin on her show until after the election.

The media, like the rest of the liberal world, can't comprehend what is happening. The conservative, traditional worldview they thought they had thoroughly invalidated is rearing its ugly head and they can't understand, much less control, it.

Obama's nomination goes a long way towards discrediting the racism canard. And Gov. Sarah Palin shows that the American dream is available without help from either government or the self-anointed elites. She shows that faith in God is more powerful than faith in man. She shows that sexism and racism are indeed constructs, but artificial constructs designed not by old white men, but by liberal utopians - designed to achieve money and power, not liberation.

The times, they are a changin, but not in the way the left envisioned. The rules are changing as we speak. Because the liberal elites have consistently shown they are incapable of adjusting their world-views to include conservatives, I predict this will be the death of them. I'm smiling.

Hillary Vs Sarah

Taking a line from Michelle Obama, for the first time in my life, I'm proud to be a woman.

I'm no feminist and I abhor identity politics, which tend to divide instead of unite. But seeing Sarah Palin yesterday stirred feelings I never knew I had. I couldn't help but contrast her with Hillary.

Consider: Hillary has spent her whole life in the quest for power. She is a political animal through and through, willing to do what ever it takes to obtain the highest office in the world. How galling to see a beautiful young upstart come out of nowhere and grab the acclaim that is rightfully hers. Hillary is finding out that life just isn't fair. Welcome to the real world.

Speaking of the real world, Sarah Palin is a life long member. No power hungry politico, she. Gov. Palin, by all accounts, is a woman who embodies the best of the female species. Experienced in real life, she is the epitome of what America stands for. She exhibits the traits that have made America great. And she does it effortlessly, because that's who she is.  A mother of five, a wife, a conservative, a person who has lived life and succeeded at everything she has set out to do. That's what America is.

Unlike Hillary, Gov. Palin has never had the need to 'reinvent' herself. Unlike Obama, her message comes from the heart instead of the teleprompter. Unlike McCain, she is not a career politician. She has a life, and politics is a part of it. Kinda like the citizen legislators our founding fathers favored.

The difference between Hillary and Sarah was glaringly evident yesterday. Gov. Palin graciously acknowledged Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton for paving the way, for breaking the glass ceiling. Hillary, on the other hand, issued a tepid, "Congratulations." Scripted vs from the heart. Classy vs craven. Finally, substance trumps perception. Finally, proven merit trumps vague intentions and scripted sound bites.

Unlike Hillary, Palin has a history of practicing what she preaches. From taking on corruption in her own party and prevailing, to standing up for her principles even thought they weren't politically expedient. She governed Alaska not by polls, but by doing the right thing. Can anyone mention the last time Hillary did the right thing?

The experts opine endlessly on the risk McCain took in naming a relative unknown as his choice for VP. A look into a forum of Hillary supporters, however, indicates that the experts may have it wrong, once again. 99% of comments posted on Hillary Clinton Forum reveal Hillary supporters are already in Palin's corner. Ah, the fickleness of politics.

The barbs already winging Gov. Palin's way all have the word 'inexperience' highlighted. One need only look to Reagan to suspect that Palin's supposed inexperience could be a major advantage. When Reagan was running for Governor of California in 1966, he said, "I am not a professional politician. The man who currently has the job has more political experience than anybody else. That's why I'm running." Just so.

The institutional bias in favor of 'experience' is one of the problems with our current system. Most politicians are lawyers, experienced in working the system. Finally, along comes someone like Palin, who is more interested in making the system work than in working the system. I expect she will pose a genuine threat to the status quo, to say nothing of the 'good old boy' system. Sounds like change to me.

Her experience as an American citizen, mother, wife, Mayor and PTA member mean that all those people in flyover country, the millions of Americans who aren't part of the 'elite' might finally have found a voice inside the beltway.

Most politicians claim to speak for the common man. Sarah Palin IS the common man. And, thank God, she seems more than willing and able to speak for herself. And me.

Obama: All Foreplay, No Finale

The last two days of foreplay leading up to Obama's announcement of Joe Biden as his VP pick have left me exhausted. I, along with millions of other Americans, got suckered into the Obama campaign's carefully orchestrated media orgy surrounding his choice of Vice-president.

First, the news that Obama, The One, has decided on a VP. But he's not saying, just yet. The media reacts as anticipated. "You'll just have to wait!", Obama says. Then, right on cue, a full day media watch, with cameras set up outside the homes of those on the short list. Cameras, beaming out to the world, the picture of four houses. No action, just speculation. The tension builds, the world awaits.

Then, in the waning hours of Friday, select bits of information are released to an anxious nation. No, its not Kaine...oh. No, its not Hillary either. And did you know she wasn't even on the list?  Each announcement is timed for maximum media exposure.

Then the biggy. Headlines on Drudge breathlessly report that Obama - Bayh bumper stickers are being manufactured. The firm refuses to confirm. Could it be? Or is it just another fake-out? Speculation swirls.

Fake out
Millions of Americans have been whipped into a frenzy of anticipation. Who will Obama pick? More leaks tantalize the eager public. Talking heads claiming the inside scoop are interviewed ad naseum. Finally, finally, a News Flash: Secret service agents are heading to Sen. Joe Biden's home. Could it be??

Millions of eager Obama acolytes check their Blackberries every few minutes, relying on Obama's promise that they would be the first to know his VP pick. Alas, they waited in vain.

AP jumped ahead with a carefully worded announcement with built-in deniability, just in case they've been suckered again. They were willing to risk a replay of the infamous Truman headlines in order to be "the first to report." They lucked out.

Around 3 am Saturday morning, it became official. Sen. Joe Biden is THE GUY. Whoosh. After all that foreplay, I was left flat. Biden? Mr. logorrhea himself? Mr. political expedience with hair plugs? Say it ain't so.

Michelle needs to give Barack a good talking to. She needs to tell him that its not good policy to engage in extended foreplay unless he can actually deliver the goods. Joe Biden? Aargh. It was for this I waited up two hours past my regular bedtime? It's not fair. I feel used and abused.

Once again, I fell for honeyed promises from the lips of a master wordsmith. Once again, the actions didn't match the rhetoric. I have only myself to blame. Once again, I realize the truth of the statement, Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. I should have known.

Obama should have known also. His political handlers should have known. When you tease and tantalize, you better have the goods to back it up. This, every woman knows. Apparently, Obama doesn't.

Obama has used up his share of the headlines, his last quotient of goodwill from a fickle media. From now on, the headlines will focus on Bill and Hill. Obama has just proved, once again, that he doesn't know how to pick his wars. He doesn't know that big promises require, uh, lets say, culmination. And Joe Biden is not a 'culminator.' Sigh.

This morning, I don't respect Obama. I feel used and abused. And if I were a liberal woman, I would exact my revenge in the voting booth.

A Conservative In Los Angeles

Conservatives are not allowed in Los Angeles. At least not in what is termed 'polite society." I found this out the hard way.

I spent 33 years calling Los Angeles home. Most of those years were spent blindly accepting the assumptions portrayed by the spare headline or sound bite on the nightly news: Christians are bad, government is good, perception trumps reality and America is the cause of all the world's woes.

Advocating the spending of tax dollars for any and all social problems was the mark of a good and moral person. Professing concern for those less well off was mandatory for financially successful people and it was de rigueur to have a least one 'best friend' of color. Wearing an AIDS awareness ribbon, at that time, signaled your inclusion in the community of man.

In return for inclusion in this community, members had a free pass to substitute intentions for actions. One was free to indulge in hedonistic behavior under the guise of empowerment. Discovering one's 'inner self' validated what used to be termed sexual promiscuity. Labels were confining so members had license to create their own. Who wouldn't prefer being labeled a free spirit instead of a selfish tramp? And in LA, labels, not substance, determined the social pecking order.

Any opinion at variance with the herd was considered judgmental, which was a definite no-no. Debate was redefined as argument, which was also a no-no. These rules were made clear to me only in the breach.

At age 39, six words spoken on TV changed my life forever. In 1992, I chanced ..

China's Lucrative Organ Harvesting Business

The eyes of the world are upon Beijing. Images pour forth daily of new stadiums full of cheering fans, Olympic athletes giving their all and dazzling fireworks in a bustling modern city. The last thing spectators think of as they sit in the new stadiums in Beijing, are the barbaric practices of their hosts. Namely, the lucrative Chinese practice of harvesting and selling the body parts of executed prisoners.

I have images also. The images I have, obtained by Chinese dissident Harry Wu, show a stadium in the countryside, filled to capacity with Chinese citizens. On the stage are a dozen hapless Chinese citizens who have been accused of a crime.

Military officials of the People's Republic of China point out their various crimes and then pronounce sentence. The majority receive a death sentence.

The condemned are led to waiting trucks. A rope is secured around the throats of these prisoners to cut off any last minute statements as they are ferried a short distance to the execution fields. Crowds await, as schools and businesses have closed for the occasion. Attendance is mandatory.

Prisoners are made to kneel. Each prisoner ..

The left Is Winning

The good news is that Congress is officially adjourned. The bad news is, Congress left town without voting on a bill to allow offshore drilling here at home, in an effort to alleviate sky high gas prices and, not incidentally, to cut back on some of the billions of dollars flowing into the pockets of those who seek our destruction.

In explaining why they refuse to even allow a vote on an issue favored by 70% of Americans, Democrats, with one voice, reply "We can't drill our way out of this problem." Oh, really? Then, without exception, they adroitly change the issue by adding, "Why don't oil companies drill on the millions of acres where they already have leases?" (Answer: because that's not where the oil is..Duh)

The Democrats believe that repeating the same talking points over and over qualifies as debate and very few on the right are challenging them. But the question no-one seems to be asking is, why the all out stand against exploring and exploiting America's own resources? The answer is clear. The Democrats know very well that a vote to open up domestic drilling would have an immediate effect on the price we now pay at the pump. We don't have to "wait ten years" as the liberals say. The market, fuelled in part by [evil] speculators, would immediately cause current prices at the pump to go down, drastically, once America signals a willingness to increase domestic production. Its called supply and demand. Its also called political suicide for Democrats.

The left is holding our country and our economy hostage in order to deny Republicans a victory in November.  Think about that for a second. Our elected representatives are playing political football with each and every American in order to score political points. In order to increase their chances of retaining power. And we, the American people, are letting them.

The Democrats need a recession, a climate crisis, a tanking economy and failure in Iraq for political fodder, proof George Bush's policies don't work. "Elect us," they say, "and we'll solve all these problems." Left unstated is the fact that most of these 'problems' derived from the very Democrats that are yearning to fix them.

One need only look to the airline industry, on the brink of widescale failure, thanks in large part to government policies. I expect its only a matter of weeks before some Democrat makes the all too sensible proposal to nationalize the airline industry. Just as they are in the process of doing with the housing industry through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Just as they are doing with the banking industry. Just as they have already done with education, health, insurance, etc.

Quick. Name a government program that has worked.

Every single government program, from social security, to education, to health, is a failure waiting to happen. And when it does, here come the Democrats with a solution that makes the problem worse.

Another question no-one is asking is, why are we allowing the ones who caused the problem in the first place the authority to solve it?

Every democrat you now see on TV claiming to be 'outraged,' outraged by this or that, is secretly laughing. Their mission is being accomplished. The SUVs they waged war on for years are headed to extinction. The attempts to get the great unwashed to use mass transit are working.

Their attempts to socially engineer acceptance of alternative lifestyles, despite the acknowledged health hazards, is well on the way to destroying marriage as we have known it. Their efforts to buy votes with our tax dollars has put our country on the road to socialism. Their attempts to engineer a whole people into the notion that they must drive less, consume less, reproduce less, pray less, smoke less, question less — are working.

The left is winning. They've forced us to alter our lifestyles to conform with their notion of what is right and proper and the kicker is, they've even gotten us to pay for it with our own taxes.

Mark Sanford, the Governor of my adopted state of South Carolina, points out in virtually every speech he makes that "The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, nations always progressed through the following sequences:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith.
2. From spiritual faith to great courage.
3. From courage to liberty.
4. From liberty to abundance.
5. From abundance to complacency.
6. From complacency to apathy.
7. From apathy to dependence
8. From dependence back into bondage.

If we Americans continue to allow the Democrats to represent the will of the politicians instead of the will of the people, I predict we'll reach step eight in our lifetime. And we'll have no one to blame but ourselves for having squandered the great gift of liberty we were bequeathed.

All Obama, All The Time

We interrupt this program for a breaking news alert: "Obama Has Landed Safely Back In The US." America breathes a collective sigh of relief. Conservatives rejoice also, anticipating a long awaited break from 'All Obama, All The Time.' Alas, it is not to be.

Obama continues to dominate the old media, with 24/7 coverage of his every utterance. Talking heads ruminate endlessly and in depth, on the 'historic' tour just completed by their new president in waiting. With the appropriate oohs and aahs, our old media elites expound on Obama's gravitas, his presidential appearance, his new foreign experience which, coincidentally, Obama states, has confirmed all his preconceptions about Iraq and Afghanistan. How utterly prescient!

Obama, like many on the left, inhabits a world occupied solely with like-minded individuals. Having spent his whole life in the company of socialist and Marxists activists, liberal academics and fellow elites, Obama has made the all too common mistake of believing that his world view is the only one. The correct one. Hence, his surprise was undoubtedly as great as CNN's Christiane Amampour's, when she abjectly reported that she was "surprised by the lack of euphoria" following his 'historic' speech.

Missing from Obama's body of knowledge and experience is any semblance of appreciation for the fully half of Americans who have never inhabited his world. Those pesky conservatives. The right-wing nuts who cling to their guns and Bibles out of a sense of desperation. The idiots who believe global warming is not man-made and the outdated traditionalists who believe individual rights trump group rights.

You know the type, the ones that are offended that Obama removed the American flag from his campaign plane before jetting off to kow-tow to Europe and condescend to Iraq. The ones that resent the man from nowhere who has the audacity, if not the credentials, to lecture the world on proper behaviour. The ones that dare to question the lies, oops, I mean spin, that issues forth from camp Obama daily.

The latest kerfluffle involves questions about why Obama chose to work out at the Ritz instead of visiting with the troops. Conservatives have the audacity to suggest it was because the military wouldn't allow Obama to bring photographers with him to record his close ties with America's soldiers. You know, the American warriors that are responsible for the very freedoms Obama broadly assigns to the world. No photo op, no visit from on high.

There are even those on the right that dare question the Obama camp's estimate of the reported 200,000 that gathered to hear his Berlin speech. The attendance figures reported by German public television ZDF were 20,000, not the 200,000 figure the Obama camp gave to a complaisant media. Some Americans were even rude enough to question why no American flag was present during Obama's 'historic' Berlin speech.

Adding insult to injury, right-wing bad boy, John Bolton, had the temerity to suggest, "The successes Obama refers to in his speech - the defeat of Nazism, the Berlin airlift and the collapse of communism - were all gained by strong alliances defeating determined opponents of freedom, not by 'one-worlders'."

To top it off, right-wing bloggers actually fact-checked his speech. In a direct assault on Obama's self-anointed right to fashion reality according to his own whim, a London paper found several 'misstatements' (that's liberalspeak for lies) in his historic speech. The audacity!

Ignoring any views that don't conform to his own grandiose view of himself, this 'lightly accomplished one-term senator, a former state legislator from Illinois, a Harvard graduate who has no substantive records of accomplishments' has instructed his aides to start planning his presidential transition.

Nothing in Obama's life has prepared him for the defeat he is bound to suffer come November. All because his pollsters, his advisors and his wife neglected to remind him that all the adulation in the world means squat unless followed up with a vote and, unfortunately, the adoring throngs  in Europe can't vote, yet.

Obama has managed to alienate increasing numbers of oh so ordinary Americans who do vote. Like the average American who is more impressed with actions than words. Like the little people who work hard, play by the rules, love God and country and know instinctively that expertise with teleprompters does not a leader make.

The average Joe wants a president who is a citizen of America, not a citizen of the world. They most certainly don't want a president who apologizes for his own country in foreign lands. Even the unsophisticated guy in flyover country knows better than Obama that relying on the old media for accurate information on how Americans think and feel is a fool's game.

Obama will be genuinely surprised when McCain is elected president in November - a presidency that Obama has already claimed as his own. He will undoubtedly question how McCain could have won when Obama doesn't even know a single person who voted for him.

All those meanies on the right have to do is continue to give the Big O more rope.

Obama's Magical Mystery Tour

After a week of intense media foreplay, Obama has finally embarked on his magical mystery tour.  As he boarded the plane that took him on the first leg of his anxiously awaited Middle East and European tour, a pair of uniformed Air Force officers saluted simultaneously, as they do each time President Bush boards Air Force One.

As the media-anointed President in waiting, Obama is virtually guaranteed superstar non-stop media coverage as he makes his taxpayer financed 'fact finding' tour this week. Joining him on this excellent adventure are all three of the major network anchors who will cover his every step, endlessly. The world anxiously awaits.

Obama's visit to Iraq is ostensibly to assess the situation on the ground in order to lend credibility to his already formed opinion of the war in Iraq. In a masterful political move, somewhat akin to inspecting the barn after the horses have already escaped, Barack, with perfect 20/20 hindsight will most likely opine that yes, the surge seemed to have helped matters abit. He will then segueway into his firm, absolutely firm view, which, by the way, he has held for over 4 months, that now is the time to start bringing troops home.

Perky Katy Couric, with the appropriate oohs and aahs, will then proclaim to the world how utterly prescient and, well, presidential Obama is to have suggested the solution to the vexing Iraq problem way before any of the experts did. The only question remaining is how many times perky Katy will flip her hair as she gazes coyly up at Obama through lowered eyelashes.

Having been thus established as an astute visionary and world leader, Obama will leave the battlefield and, safely out of harms way (Thank-God!) will proceed to Europe where a hero's welcome awaits. Foreign newspapers are in...
